Becoming My Own Tree
Len Eisenhood
Welcome to Becoming My Own Tree. In 2016, excited about learning to paint on my handmade marbled papers, I drove from Seattle to Portland for a weekend workshop with Liz Walker, a paper marbler and painter. It was a pivotal connection that would embolden me to consider developing my own visual narrative. Little did I know that in the near future, when the pandemic began in March of 2020, I would be at home 24/7 painting non-stop.
At the end of November 2020 I underwent emergency brain surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in order to clamp an aneurysm. It was successful but the trauma of that event and subsequent chronic pain made engagement in daily life a challenge. I was relieved to discover that my love of creating became the heart of befriending my nervous system and managing pain. Also, I found daily walks in and around my neighborhood brought me connections with plant and animal life, a true support on my healing journey.
I hope that as you view Becoming My Own Tree pages you will discover, in my artwork, images that enliven your connection to nature and invite you to reflect on the beauty and inherent wisdom of our natural world.
Use the menu bar, at the top left corner of each page, to open and view my art. Thank you.
